Careers - Cellusys

Hi. We are headhunting technical people with real potential – people who want to be challenged to produce work of the highest calibre.

Maybe you don’t feel like a Rockstar Software Engineer…that’s not the criterion, so no problem. We know how to dig and identify real talent.

Graduates & Interns

Join us at Cellusys, and along with your team, you’ll have end-to-end responsibility. You’ll be involved from the stage of understanding requirements, through to architecting, developing and installing the product. We’ll give you this breadth of responsibility because it makes Cellusys a good place to work; you’ll be part of the team from day one, you’ll get the insights it takes to make the product better; you’ll have the ability to evolve the product.

This is how we enable our engineers to make products that are light years ahead of the competition.

Some of our stories

JOSHUA KELLY

“A lot of my friends were talking about Cellusys so I applied to the DLX programme, did an interview and got the internship. I’ve learned a lot of cool technologies that have helped me with both my college work and side projects. If you’re looking for a good challenge and are willing to learn, definitely apply to the DLX programme.”

CONOR HUGHES

“I think what makes the DLX programme really stand out is how practical it is. I believe the best way to learn is by doing and Cellusys really encourages that. I’ve learned a lot of cool, new technologies and everyone at Cellusys is really approachable and friendly – if you ever have a problem there’s always someone there to give you a hand.”

BRIAN FANNING

“The training here really is good and the fact we’re always using the latest stuff… like in some other companies they’re using technology that’s five, ten years old. We use the latest and greatest on every new project.”

THOMAS CASHMAN

“Cellusys is definitely a lot more technical – that’s one thing that attracted me to Cellusys – very engineering focused. You see a lot of internal politics in other places. Here, it’s the end goal we’re focused on; clean, effecient code and well-engineered products.”

DANIEL MCTAGUE

“Customers really tend to like us because we’re willing to engage. I think it’s a culture thing – we love it here so we take real pride in the job. Like when something needs doing there’s not this long drawn out process – we just get on it and get it done.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What skills will I need to intern at Cellusys?

Whatever level you’re at; whatever specific skills you have or don’t have, the essentials are aptitude and attitude. If you have engineering potential, plus a keen desire to progress, you have what we are looking for.

Here are some other things we look for:
– A personal interest in programming
– Ability to learn quickly and to take on new technologies quickly
– Basic Linux knowledge
– Experience with Java or a similar object-oriented programming language

What exam results do I need?

Top results will get you an interview, but we know exams are not the absolute measurement of your ability, and we recognise that a person with the best results is sometimes not as good as someone who’s genuinely interested. If your results are not top of the class, but you think Cellusys might be right for you, get in touch. We’ll give you the chance to show us why Cellusys is the place for you.

We’re good at recognising the seeds of real talent. We’ve found talented people who for reasons specific to them, were scraping a pass in their exams; we’ve trained them in internships, and seen them go back to college and win coding competitions and come out with 1.1 grades.

What technologies and processes will I learn?
You’ll learn some of the latest and best software engineering practices. Git and sprints will become second nature. You’ll have the opportunity to gain advanced networking skills. Some of the technologies you’ll learn include:
– Distributed data stores and processing technology
– Spring, JS frameworks, ORM frameworks
– GSM, SMS, SS7, VoIP, LTE
– Java, Clojure, ClojureScript, JavaScript
I’m not sure I’m at the right level for Cellusys training…

We will tailor your training to your skill level, and to your background. A large proportion of our engineers joined us first as interns. We know the level you’re at, and we know how to help you learn what you need to know.

We’ve been transforming students and graduates into Software Engineers, Senior Software Engineers and Technical Architects for 10 years.

How do I know the training at Cellusys is of a high standard?
The most reassuring information on this will be in words direct from our interns. See the Interns’ stories section.
What specific projects will I be working on?

That depends on our development schedule.

Right from the start of your internship, you’ll be digging in with our current projects. You’ll be contributing towards our world-leading portfolio of software for mobile networks.

What’s it like working in the Cellusys office?

Our open-plan office gives you easy access to any of our other highly talented and experienced software engineers and technical architects – not just those you’re working with directly. We’re very approachable people. We’re always helping each other out. As an intern, you’re a member of our team. That is how you will be treated.

…And when there’s a discussion going on that interests you, come on over and get involved. We want you to get involved in areas that really fire you up.

Is there a lot of bureaucracy at Cellusys?
Cellusys is very much an engineering-led company. There really is no red tape.
What type of personality fits in at Cellusys?

If you ‘know it all’, we’re probably not for you.

If you love learning new technologies, perhaps we are for you…
Will you roll up your sleeves…?
Will you challenge yourself?
We are hard workers. We hire hard workers. We won’t push you to breaking point; but there’ll be some pressure.
We have outgoing people here; and people who’d see themselves as listeners more than talkers. We don’t have egos bouncing around the office.

We only want you to join us if Cellusys is the place you will thrive.

What’s the deadline for applications?

There’s no deadline. We’re always looking for more high-performing grey matter. Our company is growing quickly.

We’re reviewing CVs of prospective interns right now.

How does the Cellusys selection process work?
We don’t use machines to sort CVs. In automated selection systems, talented people fall through the cracks.
Our selection process is personable. We look over CVs. Next step is an interview. We understand interviews can be pretty unnerving for some people. We’ve designed the questions and the tasks in the interview so that, if you have talent and the drive to learn, you will get the chances you need, to show us you’ll fit in here. You might be bursting with confidence. You might be terrified. Neither of those things will get you the internship, nor lose you it. The process is more like a conversation – two-way – so we can each find out whether we’ll work well together.
What opportunities will there be at Cellusys after my internship?
As a Cellusys DLX participant, you’ll automatically be considered for full-time positions.
Where have previous interns gone, after Cellusys?

We re-hire approximately 70% of our interns.

Of the others, we haven’t heard of any who are in non-development technical roles. All that we know of, are in software development.

What do we want to see on your CV?

Keep as much as you can on your CV – team sports; work that isn’t necessarily technical.Modules and Exam results – not just your latest results, but earlier results also.

We’re interested to know about group projects you’ve done in college.<

Have you done any coding in your own time? Worked on projects outside college? Tell us.

What happens after you’ve sent your CV?

If you’re invited in for an interview, wear whatever you find comfortable.

We’ll be interested in getting to know you; how you approach coding problems; what motivates you; your aspirations and interests. And we want you to get a good sense of what Cellusys is about – so you can see whether you’ll fit in here.
